And how many homes do you own, Slum Lord? Damn if you don't sound like a front pew Baptist.

You should be FOR McCain since he wants to allow all your cousins into this country.

By the way, all the hair just makes the pumpkin look bigger.

In your very last post you (quite humbly /sarcasm) state this:

I would be angry if someone posted or wrote about something taken out of context for McCain even though I do not, and never will, support his candidacy. This is why I do not use my blog to post misinformation about John McCain ... I'm responsible not to.

And then you post this. Where's all your research now? Cindy owns these houses.

Does it anger you that this woman is independtly wealthy? That she doesn't need to rely on a man? That she runs the finances/budget/households herself, so much so that John doesn't even know how many they own because SHE handles that?

How very feminist of you.

And your other posts? Just more proof of your double standards. Aren't you part of the "party of tolerance?" Yet you show such intolerance/hatred to anyone who disagrees with you. Typical.

The title of your blog is Jen's "Cool" Box? Who's the one judging your coolness? Yourself? Because I, for one, find you to be quite uncool.

Hey Jenn!!
You know I am on the "other side" of political party lines from you. But I am puzzled on why Dems are harping about McCain's real estate. Who cares? I don't. It is quite fair to say that those who have never struggled in certain areas are still intelligent enough and possess enough heart to still empathize and work hard to assist those who are struggling. I am not a Cancer survivor but I have a heart for Relay for Life as big as anyone else. I have served on the committee for years and Chaired the event last year. I believe McCain is the same in wanting to help those we are financial duress and in danger of losing their home.
Nor should I even mention the wealth of a little family with the surname Kennedy......news is different now. They weren't scrutinized back then like the folks are now.

You know I absolutely adore you but we will never agree on politics!!!

Hey D-Kay! I hope my post finds you and that cute little boy doing well. Gale and I was just talking about you the other day ... were your ears burning?!? It was all good anyway!!

With regards to your post ... yes, you're right - we might never agree when it comes to politics and certainly not in this upcoming election. I'm fine with that though and I think you are, too.

I cannot speak for all Democrats (I do not necessarily consider myself a "democrat" or subscribe to any one party - I vote for who I believe will serve the position with integrity, humility, and willingness to do WHATEVER is best for the majority of Americans the majority of the time), but I am bothered by the fact that McCain and his wife have 7 homes is the same reason Republicans attacked John Kerry in 2004 for the many homes he and his wife owned. Just like Kerry, McCain's wife has great wealth. Republicans had a hey-day with that 4 years ago, but now it's okay. Doesn't make sense to me. As far as no one making a stink about Kennedy's wealth in 1960, I cannot speak to that. I wasn't born, so I was not a voter. I remember studying that the biggest issue with Kennedy (as far as Republicans) was that he was Catholic. Besides, this isn't 1960 - it's 2008 where the middle class is continously shrinking. If you remember from history class, an economically strong country cannot exist without a strong middle class ... and the policies of the last 8 years have contributed to its shrinking.

If you were able to watch Obama's speech the other night you would have heard him say that "he gets it." He further suggested that this campaign is not about him - it's about US. He's right ... it's not about a black man running for president ... it's about a PERSON running for president who sees the critical need to change the status quo and do what is right for the majority of the people the majority of the time (think Thomas Paine). Bush's administration has not done that, and now McCain wants to continue those policies.

Donna, I know one thing for sure ... Obama's message for change has already made changes. People who I have ALWAYS known to be conservative Republicans are now planning to vote for Obama, like Gale Whitehurst and my father-in-law (who, by the way, has always had racist views since the day I met him 25 years ago - he uses the "n" word quite often). If that doesn't speak volumes, I don't know what does.

I have joined Obama's team locally and am doing my part by volunteering to register people to vote. I'm as busy as I've ever been, but I'm making time because this is such an important issue in the lives of my children and my grandchildren.

I voted for George Bush in 2000 and 2004, so you should know that I once believed in him and held Republican views. I don't anymore.

I could make this a really, really long post, but I'll stop here. Again, you and I will always remain friends (I hope) and regardless who wins in November, let's agree to support whomever becomes our next president. I think we can agree on that.

Jen

P.S. To the coward that lacks the kahunas to post your name, thanks for calling me a feminist. What a great compliment!!!

Oh Will, I forgot to mention your post. Okay, here's the truth ... Ron and I own 3 homes. Does that make me a slum lord? Wow ... another title to add to my earlier one of a "feminist."

As far as McCain allowing "all [my] cousins into this country" ... yeah, I know. There will never be a candidate that believes EVERYTHING I want them to. I have to go with the one who matches the most. Besides, my "people" will ALWAYS find a way to get here!!!!

I laughed aloud when I read your last line ... I think I'm going to get a license plate cover that combines all of my newly acquired titles: FEMINIST SLUM LORD PUMPKIN HEAD.

BTW, how was NYC?

Lots o' fun. Next time I go it will be sans kids. Yankee Stadium was really cool. The staff isn't as hard as as the Turner folks. You can pretty much sit anywhere. We moved about 15 rows behind the Yank dugout in the 5th. The O's blistered their ass and Tom got upset. I myself quietly enjoyed the whoopin'.

And you ain't off the hook that easy. To paraphrase Moses' speech the other night: Peeps got cars they can't afford; credit card debt; runaway mortgages, etc., and there's a certian amount of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY there, but where was government to make the first move to help their sorry asses...

Where was government? Fuck government. Trade in that Escalade for that Camry; pay cash or do without; and news flash: the mortgage company does not play rent man! He/she ain't gonna be knockin' on that door on the 1st of the month.

Your words were actually very unfeminist. You totally missed the sarcasm, but somehow that doesn't surprise me.
