Okay ... I'm going to bed ...

... right after this post! I was about to turn off the PC but remembered a picture of Ron and Eli that I wanted to share. If I don't do it now, I won't remember to do it!

So here it is ... the Great White Hunter and his sidekick.

Da Man

Okay ... before I finally get to bed ... I wanted to share this picture of my husband with the rest of the blogger world. This is the photo he uses for work, but it's my absolute favorite. He rarely has to wear a suit anymore, so I cherish this photo.

Now tell me ... ain't he the cat's meow?

Surprises ...

This is my bright and funny niece who will be visiting me again this summer. When she was visiting last summer, she came home with a surprise for her mother (see tat)

I wonder what she'll come home with THIS summer? Hmmmm ... let's just think about that, shall we?

Journal #3

Hola! I'm feeling Hispanic today ... so bear with my Spanglish please ... because we have added a new member to our family. Early Sunday morning Ron found a little 5 to 6 week old kitten in our back yard being tossed around like a chew toy by Lillie, our beagle ... so to make a VERY long story short, we have added the kitten to our brood. She's so tiny so we named her "Paquita" (for those readers who know very little spanish, the word implies "small or tiny"). And if Paquita wasn't enough ... Ron found another kitten tonight - Paquita's sister. Wonderful ...

Braves lost tonight ... damn Dodgers ... why did they have to turn out such a good team this year? No-mah Garciaparra is back in rare form ... I guess marriage to Mia Hamm has proven to be a positive affair. My Braves couldn't buy a hit tonight so we lost 8-3. That drops us a half game below the Phillies. Ugh.

I've got to take Eli to the dentist tomorrow (oy vey) ... it's only a cleaning, but it's still rough on him. We use the world's greatest dentist (Ron's best friend), so I'm sure it will be alright.

Speaking of Eli ... man, is that kid on a growth spurt!! I can't keep his tummy full (and neither can my wonderful sister-in-law who watches them while I'm at work this summer). He will go through an entire bag of apples in two days. He's regular ... no doubt about that.

I am on vacation next week, so I'm planning to spend each day next week at the "Y" with the kids. The kids YMCA here in Thomasville is fantastic. They have a HUGE slide that looks like they took it straight from WhiteWater ... very impressive. Hannah swims like a fish, so I'll stay in the kiddie pool with Eli. I have two other weeks of vacation - one week at the end of July (which I'll spend in Destin, Florida with my kids and my incredibly bright and funny niece, Amanda), and one week in the beginning of August (which I'll spend with my kids, my mother, my brother, and my niece in St. George's Island, Florida; then end the week in Athens, GA for my graduation from the University of Georgia).

I didn't go walking tonight with Ginger. I had a HUGE day at work ... and I didn't get home until 5, which meant I still had to cook dinner ... so we'll make it up tomorrow night. I am not going to weigh myself for a while ... just kind of go by how my clothes fit. I plan to have Ron run a blood panel on me to check all my levels ... my cholesterol (both good and bad) is typically very good, so I'm not worried at all. I do like to keep an eye on it because I have an older sister who is diabetic. Although she carries a bit of extra weight, I feel certain that it is also due to a genetic predisposition. I've never had a problem with blood sugar, but I am getting older so I want to make sure I'm "good to go!" Ron is slender ... has been his whole life ... but his father is diabetic, so we think about that, too. Our poor children!!!

Well, it's late ... I'm going to hit the hay. Teaching 4 classes is about to kick my bum ...

Journal #2

Okay, so I missed a day or so ... keeping up with a journal, electronic or not, has already proven to be time consuming. Fret not though ... I will trudge ahead.

I also plan to use this blogger to document the building of our house. It is not the first home we have owned, but it is the first we have ever attempted to build. My very smart and focused husband is the acting contractor, so hopefully we will be able to have a better home built for a better price. This, of course, is the idea behind Ron acting as the contractor. So far, so good. We know we will go over budget, but that is to be expected.

The home: 2 stories, 4 bedroom, 4 bathrooms, 1 dining room, 1 den, kitchen with breakfast area and an island (which I've ALWAYS wanted), recreation room, my private office, Ron and I each have our own walk-in closets (they're HUGE, thank goodness) with a big master bathroom (whirlpool bath and separate shower with 2 heads), and a 3 car garage. Yeah ... it's a big house ... 3400 square feet ... sounds pretentious, I know ... but think of it this way: WE WILL LIVE IN THIS HOUSE FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES. We purchased 3 acres way out in the country ... and the property is bordered on all sides by Sedgewick Plantation (about 15,000 acre plantation) ... it's one of those "in the right place at the right time) kinda deals. If we didn't have bad luck we wouldn't have any luck at all ... but the stars were in line, and the earth turned on its axis ... just for us ... and things worked out. Ron is in H E A V E N ... he is the G.W.H. = great white hunter ... so the property is perfect. He designed the house where the big back porch overlooks the plantation surrounding us. He's right - it's gorgeous ... it's perfect.

I plan to post some pictures of the house in its stages. I didn't take pictures using my digital camera (bad idea) and instead used a disposable (what the hell what I thinking?) ... so as soon as I get them printed I will scan and post.

Well, I will post this now and will write more later. The Braves v. Cubs game begins in an hour, and then I am meeting Ginger at the high school to get a few miles walked on the track. Wish me luck that I don't keel over and die ... (puff puff) ...

Day One ...

Howdy, hiya, hola, hey, hi, and aloha. While I have a blog for my class (Student Success for Thomas University), this is the first personal blog I've had. I guess I have fallen into the trap ... you know, the one that requires one to surrender to the trends. My hands are in the air ... I have the little white flag ... so I surrender.

I'm not quite sure how much I'll reveal through this blog, but I am hoping to use it as a way to allow family and friends ('specially those far from here) to keep up with me and my life. So the journey begins today ... come along for the ride ...
