This one comes from Jimmy Carter ...
"You can do what you have to do, and sometimes you can do it even better than you think you can."
I find that statement to be very true. I am 24 days away from graduating with my Master's degree in Adult Education (the countdown is officially on). When I read my first syllabus, I got very nervous ... began to doubt I could do it ... even wondered if I had made some sort of mistake, telling myself, "what an ego you have! you thought you could do this?"
Thankfully, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I'm staring at this completion right in the face. Not only did I do it, I did it well. That may appear to be a conceited statement, and if that's the way it's being read I can only apologize. Granted, one or two classes weren't as challenging as they could have been ... but there were SEVERAL courses I completed that really put my neurons to the test, especially International Adult Education with Dr. Hill. Talk about a tough course ... gad, just ask Will ... I think our respective phone lines were burning up the entire semester. But we did it ... we made it through ... and we performed well.
So ... 24 days left ... and I'm hooded. Kewl.
And after August 5th the next countdown begins ... for my Ph.D..
Ron will be glad to read that the countdown is MUCH larger ...
Roughly 700 days ...
Let the countdown begin!!!

I laughed out loud when I read the part "at least education-wise!" Geez, dear sister ... what ever could you mean????
I hate that you won't be there either, but I'd rather you be there when I get to tease my P.A. husband that those phone calls we get some time where patients ask for Dr. Lindquist should be directed to ME! But you've got a while to worry about that ... Ron asked me again tonight how long does he have before hell begins again (not those exact words, but I could tell that's what he WANTED to say!).
Congrats Jen!! I am so proud of you too. I remember talking to you when you first started and you were so overwhelmed by it all. But you have weathered the storm. ROCK ON!!!
Remember the "little people" who merely have their BA when you become Jen, PhD!!! hee hee hee
Just one question: Am I gonna have to proof doctorate-level papers? You know I'm striving to be just like Prof. Hodges, but I'm not sure I'm up to THAT task! I don't even know if I could catch the missing "the" or figure out if an "it goes without saying" is too wordy in something that advanced!;)
I'm SO excited for you! You've worked your tail off to get where you are and you truly appreciate the value of an education and can help others find it as well.
G.
Thanks, Will ... again, you're so consistent. I love that.
